Leopard Print,Studded Heel and Faux Leather: Laid Back New Years Eve Look

Laid Back New Years Look

New Years Eve is a time to celebrate the year gone by and welcome a new one. Putting together an outfit is sometimes a last minute task. As much as we try to plan it out- sometimes it just doesn't work that way. So I thought it might be fun to share an outfit that I might throw together just in case you are someone searching for a last minute New Years Eve outfit idea! Something laid back but cute and can be worn out to a party or a romantic dinner out.

I opted for a pair a medium wash skinny jeans. I find that wearing skinny jeans can be easily dressed up, but offers flexibility and comfort for the night. I paired a cute leopard print top, because it was a trendy print this year and I love the femininity of a top like this that has some flow and forgiveness to it. I would add a faux leather jacket-it's cute and adds a bit of an edge to the outfit, which is perfect for the night out like this one!

Accessories are one of my favorite parts when putting together an outfit, because they can really make what would be a simple outfit-fabulous. I selected a pair of Betsey Johnson flower stud earrings. I didn't want the accessories of this look to be too overpowering, but rather enhance it! I also added a set of mish-mash bangles. I am completely obsessed with these London Rebel studded boots from ASOS. They compliment the faux leather jacket, will keep your toes warm and have a sexy studded heel. Last, but not least I went with a bright pop of red nail polish-like this one from OPI in Big Apple Red. It adds that perfect pop of color to the look and what goes better with leopard print, faux leather and studded heels better then a great red polish?!

Throwing together a last minute outfit for New Years Eve doesn't have to be stressful and often times can be found by mix matching within your closet and then adding some new accessories!

I hope you have an amazing New Years and here's to 2014!! See you next year- it's going to be a good one!!

If Pinterest Were My Closet: Holiday Edition

With the Holiday season fast approaching it's time to start thinking about putting together a New Years Eve outfit. I find that sometimes they come effortlessly, but other times it can be a huge strain on the very little time we have off to spend with the ones we love. The last thing you want to do is be stressed about what you will be wearing on the last night of the year.

So I have put together another If Pinterest Were My Closet: Holiday Edition. I wanted to focus on putting together outfits for the big night that came from some of my Pinterest finds. I also wanted to focus on putting together outfits that looked fab, but weren't going to break the bank. After all- the pocket books could use a break after the Christmas season is said and done.

So let's have a a look at NYE Look #1. My inspiration came from a gorgeous pic of Nicole Richie in a delicate metallic floor length dress. She looked so elegant-this dress is definitely a head turner. If you follow along on my blog you know that I LOVE Nicole Richie's style. She always gets it right. So with a little inspiration from Nicole and a budget in mind I put together this little number....

NYE Look #1

I found this metallic floor length dress with a delicate lace back that I thought would be perfect for a New Years Eve night out. Plus at $42 you really can't go wrong and finding a dress for that price allows for a bit of a shoe splurge. I found these gorgeous gold heels from Jessica Simpson's collection for under $100 which is a steal of a deal in itself.

I chose gold accessories, because I think it's easy to find gold pieces that look high end, but are really inexpensive. Like this gold envelope clutch for $29. I like to go super compact on New Years Eve if you can get away with it. Less to worry about and no one wants to drag around a huge bag that night.

I opted for simple jewelry, because I want to keep the metallic dress looking elegant and simple. Pairing too much jewelry with a metallic dress can take the dress from looking elegant to overdone. Let the dress speak for itself. These $25 Betsy Johnson star earrings are the perfect touch for this magical evening.

Finally to finish off this look I would be sure to add a berry lip. I think that red lipstick is a staple for New Years Eve, but if you wanted to do something a bit different, but stay on trend with this year then a berry lip is the way to go. Here's a little lip secret-try going with a lip stain. This one from L'oreal is perfect, because it has a glossy finish and will last longer then a lipstick leaving you more time for dancing and less time worrying about reapplying.

This dress is so cute and I love the idea of white for New Years Eve. It looks fresh and clean, plus it goes with the winter wonderland theme. The look I created from this is a bit more glam, but I felt it was necessary when celebrating the last day of the year!

NYE Look #2

The dress I chose I am absolutely in love with. I love the white mixed with a printed sleeve-this dress reminds me of something out of the mid 60's. I wanted a neckline that sits higher up so that I could pair it with a statement necklace and it's only $99. This vintage inspired necklace is gorgeous and only rings in at $25.

I pulled the black from the sleeves to pick my other accessories. I think it adds a bold contrast, but still looks really simple and classic. These studded booties from Guess are so cute and will keep your toes warm throughout the night and compliment the dress perfectly.

I am a huge fan of hard shell clutches, they hold everything you will need for the night-this black rhinestone box clutch adds the perfect amount of sparkle to this outfit. Speaking of sparkle, I couldn't resist adding this over-sized caviar bead ring. Finally to finish off the look I would add a neutral polish color to the nails-something like Essie's Sand Tropez.

Moving away from sparkle might be the perfect move for this year. Leather is always trendy, because it's so versatile and makes a statement. I saw this photo of Jessica Alba-who I am a huge fan of in the fashion world. She's always put together. Seeing her in a leather dress gave me the inspiration for my final New Years Eve look.

NYE Look #3

This final outfit starts with a faux leather roll sleeve shift dress. It's simple but makes a statement and the sleeves on this dress add subtle detail. I decided to pair leopard print accessories with this look, because it has been making a comeback this year and it's bold-perfect for New Years Eve.

The leopard print heels are so cute and the River Island black animal print bangle set are the perfect match. I also added some hoops, because you can't go wrong with them. They are simple, but help pull the accessories together without looking too overdone.

I strategically added a clutch that had similar colors to the leopard print, but was a entirely different print all together. The colors keep the continuity of the outfit, but adding in another print makes the look much more interesting.

To finish off the look I would definitely go for the classic bold red lip. It really compliments the textures and patterns used in this look. I chose NARS Future Red Cinematic lipstick, because it is a classic holiday red.

I hope you enjoyed this addition to the If Pinterest Were My Closet series. Hopefully you can pull some inpiration of your own and create your perfect New Years Eve outfit.
