Get The Look: Jessica Alba Isabel Marant Leal Denim Dress Inspired

Photo: Pinterest
It is no surprise that I am a huge fan of Jessica Alba and her chameleon like style. She can do no wrong in my books and she is among the top of closets I would love to raid.

I stumbled on to this photo of her in a Isabel Marant Leal Denim Dress and fell even more in love. This dress is so cute and perfect for frolicking in this summer. Keeping the accessories simple gives the denim dress the cool casual summer vibe.

Here is a look I put together based on Ms. Alba's look.

Jessica Alba- Get The Look

I opted to pair this denim dress look with a simple gladiator sandal and a pair of dark framed cat eye glasses to compliment wearing denim. Wearing lighter colored accessories like the Charlotte Russe beaded bracelets and a pair of pink pearlescent studs helps bring out the femininity of the look.

I also selected a lip color that is super trendy right now thanks to Kylie Jenner and her endless Instagram selfies. A dusty rose color like Kat Von D's Painted love will work perfectly.

Here are some other affordable options for the denim dress this summer....

Shop The Look: Summer Shorts

With the arrival of Spring- and Summer just around the corner it's time to start revamping our closets. Adding new pieces that welcoming the warm months with a trendy handshake. I found 3 looks that I absolutely fell in love with courtesy of Pinterest and then went to work finding pieces that would reflect my style. What I love most about these looks is that they definitely work for day or night, the versatility is endless.

LOOK #1
Photo: Pinterest
I fell in love with this look because it looks put together with minimal effort. I love the idea of layering a masculine blazer with the simple white tee. It looks crisp clean and super trendy. Paired with distressed denim shorts, a pair of gladiators, and a big black bag- how could you go wrong. Take this look out for lunch, shopping, or for a date night on the patio.

Here's What I Would Do:
I made a small change to the blazer color, because I feel that black is a much more classic and versatile blazer. It's something that will never go out of style and you will wear it again and again and again. I also think a black blazer dresses up or down much easier.

LOOK # 2
Photo: Pinterest
This look is another day or night wear. I am really loving the faux leather shorts that are popping up everywhere. They are super cute and a great versatile piece to have in your closet this summer. I love the color scheme of this look as well. The green, black, and gold is a great palette to work with.

Here's What I Would Do:

If you are thinking about picking up a pair of faux leather shorts this year, I would definitely spend a bit more on this purchase. You want these to have more quality as they will fit alot nicer. I love that this look can be completed on a budget though. Finding a great green top for under $30 allows the wiggle room for splurging on the shorts.

LOOK #3
Photo: Pinterest
The final look is probably the one that I favor. This is definitely something you would find me wearing day or night. I love the hippie chic look. I think it's feminine and trendy all wrapped into one. I have been loving kimonos lately in place of a blazer. In my opinion they are highly overlooked. Pairing a light colored kimono with a plain white tank, distressed denim shorts and some leopard print is a recipe for summer coolness.

Here's What I Would Do:

I am really excited to add some of these pieces to my closet. What are you going to be adding to your closet? Which look is your favorite?

2014 Oscars Recap: Fashion Favorites, Jared Leto & Most Memorable Moment

Source: Pinterest

Last night's Oscars proved to be the best I have seen in years! First and foremost when I heard that Ellen DeGeneres was hosting I knew that I was in. I absolutely love her. I love her humor and the way she makes everyone feel like a human being. She's so honest and humble! Can't rave enough about her. I was also really excited about the nominees- some movies I have seen and others I have not, but I can definitely say I want to watch all of them now! Every major movie this year looked amazing!

The fun doesn't stop there. It is always an absolute must to see what the who's who are wearing and if there will be any major moments- good or bad, that shake down at this prestigious live event. So I will be sharing my favorite fashion and moments of the 2014 Oscars....

First the fashion. Here are my top 5 favorites...

5. Amy Adams
Source: Bollywoodlife.com
After seeing Amy Adams in American Hustle I am now a huge fan. This girl's got skills- mad skills. I was really routing for her to take a win. Even though she didn't take home on Oscar she definitely scored points in my book for the breathtaking navy blue Gucci number she wore. This dress was such a perfect pick for her. Not only was the color perfect for her skin tone, but she looked like a Hollywood starlet and those earrings where the perfect statement piece. Well done Ms. Adams- well done!

4. Kerry Washington
Source: Vogue.com
Walking the red carpet pregnant and looking this stunning earns Kerry Washington the #4 spot on my list. She really made the right call with this one. From the hair, to the makeup, to the dress- it all just worked. She looked so fresh and glowing. This Jason Wu dress is the most amazing color and I love that she went strapless. It really looked effortless and comfortable.

3. Sandra Bullock
Source: Popsugar.com
This woman just can't get it wrong- so #3 on my list it is! Sandra Bullock looked statuesque in this navy blue Alexander McQueen number. Everything is perfection- the hair looks amazing and very old Hollywood plust thhe Lorraine Schwartz jewels were just the right touch. Delicious!

2. Lupita Nyong'o
Source: Huffingtonpost.com
Lupita Nyong'o was absolutely beautiful in this Prada gown. She was such a standout for me and when I saw her for the first time I had to pick my jaw off the floor. Not many could work a dress like this, but she made it look like she does it everyday. I am so in love with the color, cut and her earrings were out of this world!

1. Kate Hudson
Source: Checksandspot.com
My #1 spot goes to Kate Hudson hands down. She is a long time fashion favorite of mine and always makes an elegant statement on the red carpet.  This Atelier Versace dress was the perfect choice from color to concept. She looked like an angel. Her hair and jewels weren't overdone so the dress could speak volumes. This is one of my favorite red carpet looks from her over the years.

Now time to talk about the memories that were made at the 2014 Oscars....

1. The Jared Leto Speech
Source: abcnews.go.com
Not only is this man stupid gorgeous, but he has the humility to back it up. I was really touched by his speech last night. You could see how humble he really was and the world could use more of that.

2. The Selfie That Shut Down Twitter
Source: venturebeat.com
The selfie that rocked the world....and broke Twitter. When Ellen started grabbing random celebrities for a selfie I knew this was going to be the most talk about Oscar 2014 moment. I thought it was fun and really showed the goofy side of the A-list actors. Brilliant!

All in all this was a huge success. My final thoughts?
1. Ellen should host again next year.
2. Hopefully JLaw will stay vertical all night.
3. I vote more selfies.

What was your favorite Oscar moment and fashion fixation?

5 Flats To Wear For Spring 2014

Christmas and New Years have come and gone- we have welcomed 2014 with a warm embrace and one cannot help but start to think of the months to come. The warmer months that is and with warmer months comes the turning of closets. Out with the sweaters and in with the tanks and dresses. There is one section of the closet however  I get particularly excited about and that is the shoe section.

Like most warm blooded women I have a passion for shoes. So in the spirit of warm weather and a passion for shoes I thought it would be fun to talk about a trend for Spring that I can't wait to embrace- the flat.

Flats have really made their mark in the shoe community- so much that they have become quite trendy and very dependable for those days when are tired soles need a break. They allow us comfort and trend which any woman can appreciate.

So what flats should you watch to pick up for the 2014 Spring season? Fear not- I will give you 5 options that will keep you fabulously comfortable and if you read my fashion recommendation posts you know I am always thinking about budget! Having the most for least!!

1. The Ballet Flat

The traditional ballet flat was introduced as a slip on style, but for 2014 I am loving these Partita Ballet Flats from Anthropologie. They are completely adorable and put a new spin on the traditional ballet flat. I love the cross over the ankle. I think these would wear well with pretty much anything- jeans, shorts, dresses, leggings you name it! Best part is they are on sale right now for only $39.95 [reg $98]

2. The Cutout

I am so in love with this flat I can't put it into words. I think this is the perfect dress up or down flat and is a bit of a sexier flat shoe. I would definitely go with a black or nude in this type of shoe that way you can throw it on with pretty much anything. I probably would opt to spend a bit more on this shoe style, because I find that the quality can really be seen. This pair is the Hilary d'Orsay flats from alice + olivia. Again this amazing shoe is on sale for $120.00 [reg $240.00].

3. The Studded Flat

I love mixing in a bit of hardware when it comes to fashion and my shoes are no exception. That's why a pair of studded flats is an absolute must for Spring 2014, but not just any studded flat. Typically I would have selected to go with a black pair, but I think for this Spring season finding a pair that also combines a muted color will be perfect. This pair is from one of my favorite shoe designers Sam Edelman. The Jolie Studded Ballet Flat in dusty rose is gorgeous. I think these would be so cute with a pair of skinny jeans and a white tshirt- they make their own statement, but you could also dress these up for a night out. Such a versatile shoe on sale for $84.00 [reg $120.00].

4. The Metallic On - The - Go Flat

Having a cute metallic flat for Spring 2014 is key, but taking it one step further is what gave this pick top 5 status and that is the on-the-go flat. Something you can roll or fold up and throw in your bag. These are the practical dependable flat, but no one said practical had to be boring. So that is why I opted for a metallic on-the-go flat. It's an order of bling with a huge side of comfort and will pretty much go with anything you throw on. Perfect for long days at work. I spotted these BCBGMAXAZRIA Molly Metallic Flat in Gold Dust on sale for $52.50 [reg $75.00].

5. The Statement Flat

Last, but certainly not least the statement flat. I call it that, because it's bolder flat-something with some sustenance. I love the idea of a flat shoe that has a way to dress up the ankles. It's eye catching and makes the average flat shoe look like it has some meat on it's bones. If you are looking for a statement flat like this I would go for a dark color [black is boss], something leather and that boasts big ankle straps- like the ones above from Nine West called the Ruserious. A black leather shoe perfect for day or night, dressed up or down. These make the right statement and are on sale for $39.99 [reg $60.00].

So now that I have you thinking about Spring 2014 footwear, what flat do you like best for the upcoming season?

Fashion: 6 Key Fashion Pieces For Any Closet

If you follow me on Twitter you know that I am a huge fan of Pinterest [pinning everyday]. I have started a segment on this blog called If Pinterest Were My Closet where I feature looks that I find on Pinterest and then tailor how I would put the look together.

That being said throughout all the pinning I have been doing lately I have noticed some trendy pieces that I have been loving and I think would make great assets to any closet.
Photo: Pinterest
I am obsessed with Nicole Richie's fashion and when I came across this photo of her rocking this neutral beanie I fell in love even more. The beanie has been a huge fashion staple recently- you can't turn a corner without running into one and I think that opting for a neutral color is perfect for any look you put together. The neutral beanie is Key Piece #1.

The Neutral Beanie

The utility jacket is a long time favorite of mine. I love that you can layer them up for the colder months or wear as is for the warmer months. Definitely a great pick for a day to day wear and I love that there are so many different versions of this jacket. Pick one! You can't go wrong. This brings us to Key Piece #2.

Like the beanie the plaid shirt has been everywhere. Both men and women have been wearing this revolving trend and each year it gets more and more interesting- how many ways can you wear a plaid flannel? I LOVE this photo of RiRi wearing a plaid shirt with a fur/jean jacket. Super cute and trendy! The best part is pretty much any place you love to shop carries one! Key Piece #3 is the much adored plaid flannel shirt.

The statement necklace has been a long time trend. It has managed to evolve over the years and is still going strong within the fashion community. Starting out as a cookie cutter trend it has now translated into a form of self expression taking this trend to new heights. I am a big fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen when it comes to putting it all together and the photo above is no exception. A simple graphic tee and chunky layered on chunky statement necklaces makes for a fashion hit. Key Piece #4 is the statement necklace.

This fedora has also come a long way over the years. It started out has a simple hat design you wore to cover up bad hair days or took to the beach and now has turned into a staple piece for the average gal or high profile celeb like Jessica Alba who can often times be spotted wearing one. These hats have turned into a statement piece and you now have more options than ever before. What color? Stiff brim or floppy? Size? The options are endless to Key Piece # 5- The Fedora.

As a kid growing up I had a major sweet tooth, but there came a time when I just couldn't eat as much candy as usual. Now to satisfy my sweet tooth I have turned to a different kind of candy- wrist candy that is. Another trend that made it's mark- it has also become a form of self expression. With a million different ways to wear it this trend has always been a fav of mine. I find this trend always makes for a conversation piece among the fashion loving ladies. So stack 'em how you like, but make sure it represents you. Key Piece #6- wrist candy.

Wrist Candy

There are so many fashion trends right now that I absolutely love, but these top 6 fashion pieces I chose because I think they can be incorporated into any closet and can be worn to represent who you are no matter what your style is!

Leopard Print,Studded Heel and Faux Leather: Laid Back New Years Eve Look

Laid Back New Years Look

New Years Eve is a time to celebrate the year gone by and welcome a new one. Putting together an outfit is sometimes a last minute task. As much as we try to plan it out- sometimes it just doesn't work that way. So I thought it might be fun to share an outfit that I might throw together just in case you are someone searching for a last minute New Years Eve outfit idea! Something laid back but cute and can be worn out to a party or a romantic dinner out.

I opted for a pair a medium wash skinny jeans. I find that wearing skinny jeans can be easily dressed up, but offers flexibility and comfort for the night. I paired a cute leopard print top, because it was a trendy print this year and I love the femininity of a top like this that has some flow and forgiveness to it. I would add a faux leather jacket-it's cute and adds a bit of an edge to the outfit, which is perfect for the night out like this one!

Accessories are one of my favorite parts when putting together an outfit, because they can really make what would be a simple outfit-fabulous. I selected a pair of Betsey Johnson flower stud earrings. I didn't want the accessories of this look to be too overpowering, but rather enhance it! I also added a set of mish-mash bangles. I am completely obsessed with these London Rebel studded boots from ASOS. They compliment the faux leather jacket, will keep your toes warm and have a sexy studded heel. Last, but not least I went with a bright pop of red nail polish-like this one from OPI in Big Apple Red. It adds that perfect pop of color to the look and what goes better with leopard print, faux leather and studded heels better then a great red polish?!

Throwing together a last minute outfit for New Years Eve doesn't have to be stressful and often times can be found by mix matching within your closet and then adding some new accessories!

I hope you have an amazing New Years and here's to 2014!! See you next year- it's going to be a good one!!

If Pinterest Were My Closet: Holiday Edition

With the Holiday season fast approaching it's time to start thinking about putting together a New Years Eve outfit. I find that sometimes they come effortlessly, but other times it can be a huge strain on the very little time we have off to spend with the ones we love. The last thing you want to do is be stressed about what you will be wearing on the last night of the year.

So I have put together another If Pinterest Were My Closet: Holiday Edition. I wanted to focus on putting together outfits for the big night that came from some of my Pinterest finds. I also wanted to focus on putting together outfits that looked fab, but weren't going to break the bank. After all- the pocket books could use a break after the Christmas season is said and done.

So let's have a a look at NYE Look #1. My inspiration came from a gorgeous pic of Nicole Richie in a delicate metallic floor length dress. She looked so elegant-this dress is definitely a head turner. If you follow along on my blog you know that I LOVE Nicole Richie's style. She always gets it right. So with a little inspiration from Nicole and a budget in mind I put together this little number....

NYE Look #1

I found this metallic floor length dress with a delicate lace back that I thought would be perfect for a New Years Eve night out. Plus at $42 you really can't go wrong and finding a dress for that price allows for a bit of a shoe splurge. I found these gorgeous gold heels from Jessica Simpson's collection for under $100 which is a steal of a deal in itself.

I chose gold accessories, because I think it's easy to find gold pieces that look high end, but are really inexpensive. Like this gold envelope clutch for $29. I like to go super compact on New Years Eve if you can get away with it. Less to worry about and no one wants to drag around a huge bag that night.

I opted for simple jewelry, because I want to keep the metallic dress looking elegant and simple. Pairing too much jewelry with a metallic dress can take the dress from looking elegant to overdone. Let the dress speak for itself. These $25 Betsy Johnson star earrings are the perfect touch for this magical evening.

Finally to finish off this look I would be sure to add a berry lip. I think that red lipstick is a staple for New Years Eve, but if you wanted to do something a bit different, but stay on trend with this year then a berry lip is the way to go. Here's a little lip secret-try going with a lip stain. This one from L'oreal is perfect, because it has a glossy finish and will last longer then a lipstick leaving you more time for dancing and less time worrying about reapplying.

This dress is so cute and I love the idea of white for New Years Eve. It looks fresh and clean, plus it goes with the winter wonderland theme. The look I created from this is a bit more glam, but I felt it was necessary when celebrating the last day of the year!

NYE Look #2

The dress I chose I am absolutely in love with. I love the white mixed with a printed sleeve-this dress reminds me of something out of the mid 60's. I wanted a neckline that sits higher up so that I could pair it with a statement necklace and it's only $99. This vintage inspired necklace is gorgeous and only rings in at $25.

I pulled the black from the sleeves to pick my other accessories. I think it adds a bold contrast, but still looks really simple and classic. These studded booties from Guess are so cute and will keep your toes warm throughout the night and compliment the dress perfectly.

I am a huge fan of hard shell clutches, they hold everything you will need for the night-this black rhinestone box clutch adds the perfect amount of sparkle to this outfit. Speaking of sparkle, I couldn't resist adding this over-sized caviar bead ring. Finally to finish off the look I would add a neutral polish color to the nails-something like Essie's Sand Tropez.

Moving away from sparkle might be the perfect move for this year. Leather is always trendy, because it's so versatile and makes a statement. I saw this photo of Jessica Alba-who I am a huge fan of in the fashion world. She's always put together. Seeing her in a leather dress gave me the inspiration for my final New Years Eve look.

NYE Look #3

This final outfit starts with a faux leather roll sleeve shift dress. It's simple but makes a statement and the sleeves on this dress add subtle detail. I decided to pair leopard print accessories with this look, because it has been making a comeback this year and it's bold-perfect for New Years Eve.

The leopard print heels are so cute and the River Island black animal print bangle set are the perfect match. I also added some hoops, because you can't go wrong with them. They are simple, but help pull the accessories together without looking too overdone.

I strategically added a clutch that had similar colors to the leopard print, but was a entirely different print all together. The colors keep the continuity of the outfit, but adding in another print makes the look much more interesting.

To finish off the look I would definitely go for the classic bold red lip. It really compliments the textures and patterns used in this look. I chose NARS Future Red Cinematic lipstick, because it is a classic holiday red.

I hope you enjoyed this addition to the If Pinterest Were My Closet series. Hopefully you can pull some inpiration of your own and create your perfect New Years Eve outfit.

If Pinterest Were My Closet: Holiday Party Look

I am so excited that holiday season is finally here and with that season comes good times, a plethora of get togethers, and fabulous holiday parties. Having a stand-out holiday party outfit is an absolute must and when I saw this photo of Carrie Bradshaw in one of my favorite of her outfits- I knew this had to be a part of the If Pinterest Were My Closet...Holiday Edition! This outfit just screams holiday party or New Years Eve party!! I am completely in love with this skirt!❤❤

So you know how it works...here is my version of this outfit....

Holiday Party Look

Holiday Party Look by beautybykendrac featuring knit convertible mittens

Let's start with the skirt, because in my mind this makes the entire outfit a huge success. It is the focal point of this entire look and it's stunning! I think that a tulle skirt like this would look so flattering on any body type and it makes a statement!  I chose this deep blue color because I felt that it represented this years color trend better.

Another point that I love about an outfit like this is the fact that its simplicity speaks volumes. The basic white tank top tucked into the tulle skirt is clean simple and flattering all at the same time.

I paired a cream colored blazer with this outfit to offset the white. Too much white would take away from the skirt and be a little too stark for my liking. Selecting a blazer that is a shade or two off will really make this outfit pop. I also like a bit of a longer boyfriend style blazer because it looks more like a blazer | jacket for this outfit.

For accessories I chose a clutch with a bit more hardware. I love the skull clasp on the top and the studs spread across the body of the clutch. Since I would probably go light on the jewelry having a standout clutch would be a must. I also chose it in a cream to have some continuity between the blazer and the rest of the outfit.

I opted for a pair of strappy gold heels Something very simply but quite a high heel and stark gold to add a bit of femininity and bling to the outfit.

Finally I wouldn't leave the house without a pair of duo mitten | fingerless gloves. These are perfect for adding a cute factor to the outfit with the mitten style glove, but bring some practicality as well. You know you will need your fingers for all the photos and texting you will be doing.

I hope you enjoyed my first Holiday Edition of If Pinterest Were My Closet!! There will be plenty more of these holiday themed outfit ideas so make sure you are subscribed to my blog!! ❤❤

What do you think of a tulle skirt for the holiday season?

If Pinterest Were My Closet: Lunch Date Casual

I absolutely love Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen's style. I think they do such a good job of making fashion look effortless. They always look put together even when they aren't so.... put together. I came across this outfit on Pinterest and it sparked another post of If Pinterest Were My Closet and I thought this would look amazing for a casual lunch date with girlfriends!

It's casual and cool and I LOVE the scarf paired with the leather jacket and a plain white tee. Brilliant!

So here is my version of this outfit with a few twists!
As I mentioned before I ❤ LOVE ❤ the scarf and it's partly because of the color. Orange is perfect for Fall and to be honest I don't see alot of orange worn as a statement piece like that. Am I missing something? I also love how it's worn, thrown around the neck I feel like it makes the scarf stand out more. So I chose a Nordstrom scarf with orange, black, and beige.

In the photo you can't see what shoes she chose so I deceided to go with a flat. Comfortable and never goes out of style. Steve Madden black flats with a studded toe is a must-especially because you won't pay for it later if you decide to go shopping with the girls after lunch! Which happens more times then not.

A faux leather jacket over a plain white tee is super cute. I think it looks really trendy and put together and can be paired with so many different looks.

I also really liked this Steve Madden black bag, because not only is it a practical size and is equip with shoulder straps and crossbody options, but I like that it is textured. Adds a little something extra.

Finally the jeans. A wide leg jean is my favorite part of this look. They are so cute and super comfortable, plus I think they give off a certain. I-don't-care-and-I-just-threw-this-together. In the spirit of effortless Olsen fashion.

I hope you liked this addition of If Pinterest Were My Closet. Have fun at lunch with these options that I found. They are affordable, but really reflects the Olsen look!

What do you think of this for a casual lunch date?

If Pinterest Were My Closet: Camo Cool

Ugghh I am completely loving anything camo this year! I don't know why, but it is fantastic and that is why I wanted to do an outfit for If Pinterest Were My Closet- in a camo inspired look. Something very laid back, but still had some feminine components.

I saw this picture and completely fell in love with this outfit! So I decided I would re-create my own version!

I think that this look is great however I would wear it just a bit different. I would definitely be wearing a longer t-shirt like this one from James Perse with the faux leather jacket. I think it adds some layering which I love for this season. I also chose to add some gold hoops to help soften the camo-leather look. Then to finish it off I added one of my favorite green nail polishes by Butter London in British Racing Green. It is gorgeous!!!

Something that I love about this look besides the camo pants is the trio of accessories; the beanie, the heels, and the squarish sunglasses. Opting for a neutral colored beanie from Banana Repulic helps to brighten up the look and the black Steve Madden heels also add a feminine quality against the camo.

I could see this look being great for a casual date night or maybe a fun night out with the girls. It balances trend and comfort which is always a plus in my books!

What do you think of the camo trend? On board or not for you?

Warby Parker: Fashionably Kind Eye Wear

This post is going to be a little different. I was recently approached by a company called Warby Parker and asked if I wanted to participate in their Winter 2013 collection launch. Now if you don't know who Warby Parker is you are not alone. Truthfully speaking I didn't know who they were either, but after I did a little digging and read about who they were and what they were doing- I knew I wanted to be a part of this.

With their headquarters located in New York they have branched into 6 retail locations and 9 showrooms. Warby Parker provides quality eye wear at a portion of the price. Believing that non prescription/prescription fashion eye wear (including sunglasses) should not come at a high price. They describe their eye wear as "vintage inspired with a contemporary twist" and I have to say I agree.

Today being trendy doesn't just stop with a great bag and a killer pair of heels. Being trendy means pulling it all together-including some statement eye wear. Since I post quite frequently about fashion or fashion accessories it was a perfect fit to feature some great fashion eye wear that just so happens to be affordable. Affordable fashion? Who doesn't love that?

Yet it was something unexpected that made me want to share their story. It is because they are doing something inspiring and that does not have a price tag. With every pair of glasses purchased at Warby Parker, they donate a pair to someone in need. Nearly 1 billion people are in need of prescription eye glasses and do not have access. That means 15% of the world's population is living day to day and not being able to see at their full potential. So Warby Parker has partnered with non-profits to distribute prescription glasses to those in need- having distributed over 500,000 pairs. Click here to find out more about the Buy a pair, Give a pair program or the Warby Parker story.

Now that you now a little bit more about this stylish company that is doing pretty great things, let's talk fashion.
