I woke up today thinking about sushi. Strange I know, but I am a self admitted sushi addict and I haven't had it in soooo long. I am craving it. With my birthday looming, perhaps I will indulge in a chow fest. Anyway, that got me thinking about what kind of look would I create to go with my sushi date night out? The first two things that came to mind were a summer smokey bronze eye with a top knot bun. The idea was perfect, like salmon sashimi and wasabi.
So for my face of the day I have created a simple smokey summer eye that would look great on anyone and all it takes are a few key products.
Let's start with the skin. Creating luminescent fresh summer skin is a key point. I have really been concentrating on my skin and I have created a full face foundation routine. Check out my how to video here.
Once the skin is completed I move on to creating the sultry bronze eye. There are a few things to keep in mind when creating a smokey bronze summer eye. First, you don't want to over do it. I skipped using a liquid liner, which is what I would normally use when creating a smokey eye for drama, but using it in a summer version only creates weight in the eye area. You want the drama, but a fresh drama if that makes sense?! Opt for using a pencil liner and smudging it out to soften to look. You also want to concentrate the majority of the liner on the bottom lash line. It helps create that soft drama we are after for this look.
I used Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Perversion. It's soft and black black black. Perfect for smoking out and creating that smoldering eye.
Also remember to curl those lashes ladies. It opens the eye up, which also helps when creating that soft summer smoked eye.
Alright so let's get to it......
I know what you're thinking...ummm that's it. Yup! That's it.
1. Apply Revlon Smoky Shadow Stick in Torch {bronze color} all over the lid, stopping just above the crease. Also pulling the color underneath the eye stopping about 3/4 of the way. Use index finger and smudge the color out. Don't worry about keeping it perfect, you want it to look a little undone.
2. Next, using a flat shader brush pick up Smog from the Naked Palette. I love this bronze color so much. It is the perfect bronze shadow. Pat Smog onto the lid stopping at the crease. Now smudge Smog under the eye over the already laid bronze color, using just the tip of the flat shader brush.
3. Now you want to use the dome brush and blend out any harsh lines.
4. Using the small dome brush pick up some Darkhorse from the palette and apply it to the outer corner of the eye making a small V shape, blending it into the Smog color.
5. Next using the flat shader brush and some Half Baked, pat gently onto the highest point of the eyelid. This will create some highlight on the eyelid and reflect light.
6. Next using the large fluff brush and Virgin, sweep just underneath the brow blending down into the bronze color of the Smokey Shadow Stick. This will soften any hard edges and create a soft wash over the bronze.
7. Clean off the pencil brush and pick up some Virgin, pat into inner corner of the eye pulling underneath to meet the bronze color.
8. Using Perversion apply to lower water line smudging into the lower lashes ever so slightly. Also apply to upper water line.
9. Apply Perversion to the outer corner of the top lash line.
10. Smudge out wherever you applied the pencil liner with the pencil brush.
11. Curl lashes and apply two coats of They're Real to the top and bottom lashes.
For the lips I used one of my favorite lipstick colors EVER. I wanted to add a pop of color without being too overdone. I chose Maybelline Vivids in Pink Pop. It's the perfect lipstick to pair with a bronze eye.
Finish off the look with a few mists from Mac's Fix + Spray to help pull it all together and freshen up.
For my hair I wanted something up off my neck, it's soo hot here in Texas and it helps to keep cool. I also love the top knot because it's simple, but trendy and with the hair pulled up off the face it really helps the smokey eyes pop. I wear my hair like this alot throughout the summer!
I really love wearing statement earrings when I am going out for the evening and my hair is up. I'm crazy I know! Ha! I chose something with turquoise. I love the bronze, pink, and turquoise together. Check out Forever 21, they always have really great jewelry that is inexpensive and trendy!
Here are a couple of options;
I would more then likely reach for a clutch. I am so in love with my studded clutch from Zara.
I would definitely want to wear a fresh, but sophisticated fragrance out. I am obsessed with perfume as I am sure so many of you are as well. Choosing a date night perfume for me is easy. I always go with my Miss Dior. Ahhhhh I love this fragrance so much.
What are your favorites for an evening out?
