The new color trend for 2013 is to go green. So I created a smoky green look for the eyes that will definitely keep all eyes on you.
To find out how I created this look and what I used, click the jump!
I think that this look is something that would work well for a date night or a night out on the town with the girls. It's bold, but conservative.
Here's what I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
NYX Jumbo Stick in Rocky Mountain Green
Urban Decay Smoked Palette- Loaded
NYX Jumbo Stick in Cottage Cheese
Urban Decay Naked Palette in Naked, Buck, Virgin, & Sidecar
L'oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense Liquid Liner
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Perversion
L'oreal Voluminous Power Collagen Mascara
Katy Perry Lashes in Oh Honey
How I created this look:
1. Apply Urban Decay Primer Potion all over lid blending up to brow bone. You want to make sure all your eyeshadow stays put.
2. Apply NYX Jumbo Stick in Rocky Mountain Green from lash line to crease, stopping at outer corner. This is going to help the shadow you apply over top pop.
3. Using a flat brush apply Loaded to over top of the Rocky Mountain Green, using a patting motion only. This is will help pack the color onto the lid while ensuring minimal fall down.
4. Using a fluffy dome brush, pick up some of the Naked and using a windshield wiper motion in the crease. This helps to soften the hard lines of the green shadow.
5. Pick up some Buck with the same brush and apply it to the outer corner of the eye to create some depth. Blend well. Apply Sidecar over top of the Buck color. Sidecar has a bit more chunky glitter in it and adds a nice touch.
6. Using the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green, trace underneath the eye about 3/4 of the way, using index finger, blend out and smudge.
7. With the flat eyeshadow brush and using the tip of the brush only, pick up Loaded and apply underneath the eye over top of the Rocky Mountain Green.
8. Using the fluffy dome brush again pick up some Virgin and apply just underneath the brow. This acts as a highlighter helping to add contrast to this look.
9. Apply the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Cottage Cheese to the inner corner of the eye and blend out using index finger, this helps to open the eye up and is especially important when creating smoky looks like this. You don't want your eyes to look too dark and sunken.
10. Using the L'oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense, apply just along top lash line. This helps to thicken the lashes.
11. If you want, you can curl your lashes now. Next, apply mascara. I always like to use at least 2 coats maybe 3 for smoky looks. You really want the lashes to pop.
12. Now apply lashes. I used Katy Perry's Oh Honey lashes. They are so thick and really help to create a more dramatic eye. Allow lashes glue to dry. Duo eyelash glue is what I like to use. It applies white but dries clear. Once the lash glue has dried, you can reapply any liquid liner if needed.
13. Now apply Perversion to the upper water line. This is just on the inside underneath your top lashes. Apply a jet black liner like Perversion to the upper waterline adds extra depth.
Now you have created a smoky green eye that is right on trend for the up coming year! I hope you enjoy this look as much as I do!!
If you attempt this look, take pics and email them I will post them up on my blog!
